The customary security instruments are the mortgage and deed of trust.

Witnesses are not required for mortgage instruments executed in New Mexico.

Any document executed and acknowledged in accordance with the laws of another state will be accepted for recordation in New Mexico, as set out in Sections 14-14-4 through 14-14-6, NMSA.
